Halo Traction and Braces
About This Treatment
Halo Traction or Halo Bracing is used to treat a number of conditions of or injuries to the neck.
Halo Traction helps to remove the need for the neck to support the weight of the head and is generally used before surgery to gradually improve the flexibility of the spine, muscles and nerves.
Halo Bracing is used after an injury or certain types of spinal surgery. They are designed to be an external immobilisation device that holds the head in a fixed and supported position.
Patients living with a halo will need to make some small adjustments to how they do things and may also need custom-made clothing to accommodate the halo. The following booklet and link provides more information.
