Dr Francis Tomlinson


Briz Brain & Spine's senior surgeon and founding member, Dr Francis Tomlinson is a neurosurgeon and specialist in the surgical treatment of conditions of the brain and spine.

Dr Francis Tomlinson has particular interests in:

Background and Experience

Born and raised in Queensland, Dr Tomlinson completed his undergraduate medical training in Brisbane, at the University of Queensland. He received his advanced neurosurgery training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital while also studying for his doctorate PhD.

On completing his neurosurgical training, Dr Tomlinson worked for three years at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in the United States of America, before returning to Australia to accept a position as a visiting neurosurgical consultant at the Royal Brisbane and Royal Children's Hospitals. He worked as a Clinical Associate Professor, supervising neurosurgical training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

During this time Dr Tomlinson also managed his busy private neurosurgical practice in Brisbane. Dr Tomlinson is now in full-time private practice after leaving the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 2004.

Dr Tomlinson is no longer operating, but continues to consult with patients and provide expert neurosurgical opinion.
