Background and Experience
After completing his neurology training, Dr Reimers moved with his young family to Townsville in north Queensland. There, he worked as a consultant neurologist to the Townsville Hospital and the Mater Hospital, as well as undertaking outreach neurology clinics to the Mackay Base Hospital. He was also involved in undergraduate teaching of medical students from the University of Queensland and later, the James Cook University Medical School as well as registrars from the Townsville Hospital.
In early 2012, Dr Reimers moved to Christchurch, New Zealand to work as a Senior Neurologist and Neurophysiologist in the Neurology Department at the Christchurch Hospital. He was involved in the training and supervision for the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists (ANZAN) of advanced neurology trainees both in general neurology and neurophysiology. Dr Reimers also undertook undergraduate teaching of students from the University of Otago Medical School.
Recently, Dr Reimers moved back to Brisbane to be closer to family. He now works as a Senior Medical Officer in acute stroke management and general neurology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, conducting his private clinic at Briz Brain and Spine.
