Leg, Arm and Hand Pain
About This Condition
Sciatica, or lumbar radiculopathy, occurs when one or more nerve roots in the lumbar spine become irritated or compressed. As these nerves travel to the hips, buttocks, legs and feet, an injury in the lumbar spine can cause symptoms in these areas. Sciatica may also result from a variety of problems with the bones or tissues of the lumbar spinal column.
