About This Condition

Parkinson's disease is a progressive, neurodegenerative disorder which causes motor symptoms such as tremor, postural and gait disturbances, bradykinesia (slowness of movement) and rigidity. The cause remains largely unknown and while there is no cure currently, treatment options include medications and surgery, in particular, deep brain stimulation (DBS).
