Spinal Tumours
Extramedullary Spinal Tumour
About This Condition
Extramedullary tumours come from various tissues in the spine such as nerves, blood vessels, meningeal layers and epidural space. Most of these tumours are benign but do cause pain. Nerve sheath tumours and meningioma are the most common types of extramedullary spinal tumours. Treatment is multidisciplinary and dependent on the type and location of the tumour, although surgery to excise the tumour is often a suitable treatment.
