After you have been referred to a surgeon at Briz Brain & Spine by your GP or other doctor, you can book your initial consultation with us by calling 07 3833 2500 or filling out the online appointment form. Once your appointment is booked, the details of the appointment will be sent to you by email or letter. Your initial appointment will take up to 30 minutes.
Before your appointment, please remember to obtain and bring the following:
- Current relevant radiology scans. Our doctors prefer to review images on film, as images on CD are sometimes incompatible with software used in this Practice. If you have had any scans/x-rays prior to the appointment, or are unable to obtain your scans/x-rays in the preferred format, please call our office to discuss your options as some companies do make images available online to our surgeons. (Failure to bring images may require an additional appointment so that the Doctor can properly assess your condition.)
- Current referral, Medicare or DVA card and Private Health Insurance details
- Your appointment letter
Please note, the relevant forms will also be emailed or posted to you.
In order to build a comprehensive medical profile you may be asked to complete various questionnaires sent to you either via email or by letter.
This ensures our surgeons have information on your general health, pain, fatigue, emotional distress, physical function, social function and the impact that your condition has had on your day to day life.
For the results to be available at the time of your consultation, we ask if these surveys could be completed and returned no later than 48 hours prior to your appointment.
Ongoing Patient Assessment
Briz Brain & Spine is committed to a high standard of care and improving the quality of care provided.
This can only be achieved with the help of gathering feedback from patients regarding the:
- Service provided by the surgeons, nursing staff and administration staff at Briz brain & Spine
- The care and treatment offered by surgeons, nursing staff and administration staff at Briz Brain & Spine
For patients electing to have surgery, to assess the benefit of treatment, we would like to assess patients at regular time intervals for a number of years following surgery via a series of questionnaires relevant to their condition.
This assessment is called Surgical Outcome Study (SOS), and is being funded by the Newro Foundation.
If you do not wish to complete these questionnaires please download and complete the opt out consent form and return to Briz Brain & Spine.
