At BrizBrain & Spine, many students have joined us to further their knowledge and education and we always enjoy finding out what they thought of their experience with us.
November 2013, Rachel Colbran, University of Queensland
As part of my first year medical studies at the University of Queensland I undertook a four-week medical elective with ‘BrizBrain & Spine’. During the course of my elective, I gained valuable insight into the teamwork that underpins neurosurgery.
November 2012, Nayan Kapadia, 1st Year Medical Student, University of Queensland
As a first year medical student at University of Queensland, Nayan had the opportunity to do a 4-week elective with our surgeons.
July 2012, Mackenzie Kwort, Year 10 Student, Trinity Anglican School, Cairns
Mackenzie travelled from Cairns to complete her placement with the Surgeons of Brizbrain and Spine and is aiming to become a Neurosurgeon specialising in Paediatrics. Read about Mackenzie’s experiences with us. We would also like to thank those who partnered with us in providing a comprehensive week for her namely Premion, Wesley Medical Imaging and the nursing staff of the Wesley Hospital.
Nick Candy, 1st Year Medical Student, James Cook University
In his 2 week placement at BrizBrain & Spine, Nick was able to observe consultations and operations with our surgeons, and to see how a busy practice with five neurosurgeons functions. Nick also got to experience the reality of a surgery that wasn’t finished until 1am in the morning.
May 2012, Antony Adelman, Final Year Medical Student, Bond University
The whole team at BBS were very welcoming and provided a stimulating experience in the neurosurgery setting. They coordinated my clinical contact time with my university and the Wesley Clinical School program of teaching and practical tutes, with their own dedicated Medical Education Coordinator.
September 2011, St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace
Two senior students from St Joseph’s College were able to attend a Deep Brain Stimulation operation perfomed by Dr Terry Coyne and Dr Peter Silburn.
